Butterfly Studios was founded in 2024 by Anderson Bell. The original frame was a participatory-ownership economy for brand loyalty. In May 2026 the studio pivoted to its current category - the agentic commerce studio - because the deeper shift underway is bigger than loyalty.

NCTR Alliance is Butterfly's SAC (Software as Cooperative) implementation of the SaaC principle - users-as-owners, value shared with the cooperative of 5,121 brand partners on the platform rather than extracted to shareholders, governance distributed rather than vendor-held. Public companies cannot legally share upside with their users; the cooperative model only emerges outside that structure. Butterfly built it and operates it, and brings the approach into how the studio engages: sharing the cost of figuring out an emerging space across the cooperative of brands and platforms it serves, rather than packaging each engagement as a vendor transaction.
